About Whiteboard FC

A whiteboard for understanding Madrid.

Whiteboard FC is an independent newsletter and blog about Real Madrid. Each week, The Whiteboard breaks down a match, an idea or a player with data, charts and tactics. No noise.

Editorial approach

How we work

  • Public data

Every number comes from open data or public sources, and we always say where it comes from. If a figure is only an example, it is marked as one.

  • Tactics

The whiteboard is the starting point: positions, movements and decisions, explained with our own diagrams rather than stock phrases.

  • Opinion, with reasons

We take a stance, but every opinion comes with its reasoning and its numbers. You may well disagree: that’s what the question of the week is for.

The Whiteboard

Every piece is signed The Whiteboard. It’s a collective byline: what matters is the analysis, not who wrote it.

The format

One issue a week, in six parts

Each issue runs to between 600 and 900 words and always follows the same order, so you know where to find everything.

  1. The argument One clear idea about the match or the week, in a few lines.
  2. The numbers The figures and charts that back that idea up, or take it apart.
  3. The tactical detail One movement, adjustment or pattern, explained on the board.
  4. Player of the week One name, and what the numbers really say about them.
  5. Next up The next opponent, and what to watch for.
  6. Question of the week An open question for you, to keep the conversation going.

Editorial standards

How we source and correct

  • Method

Each issue starts with one question and a defined sample: a season, a competition and a date range. We state the sample, the metric and the date we last checked the numbers, and we say when a result could be noise.

  • Sourcing

Results, standings, lineups and match statistics come from a named data provider, and we confirm key figures against a second public source before publishing. Expected goals (xG) are model estimates that differ between providers, so we name the provider and never mix two in one comparison. We do not present rumors as facts or invent probabilities.

  • Corrections

If a number or a claim is wrong, we fix it in the article and mark a substantive revision with an “Updated” date that says what changed. Spelling fixes are made quietly. To report an error, write to the address below with the link to the page.

Independence

No official logos, no shortcuts

Whiteboard FC is an independent project with no connection to the club or to any competition, and it uses no official logos, crests or photographs. Every chart and diagram on the site is our own.

A fan project, not affiliated with Real Madrid C.F.
